Additional information

Periodic node discovery in mobile sensor networks can drain batteries quickly as it requires the nodes to be awake to advertise their presence and respond to potential neighbours. This paper proposes a novel algorithm for energy efficient node discovery in sparsely connected mobile wireless sensor networks. This is the first work that takes advantage of the fact that nodes have temporal patterns of encounters (e.g. human centric networks) and exploits these patterns to drive the duty cycling. [The paper was accepted to DCOSS, one of the leading conferences for sensor networks, and according to google scholar has 31 citations].
