2-adrenergic receptor redistribution in heart failure changes cAMP compartmentation
Here we combined topographical imaging with localized application of agonists via nanopipette and fluorescence resonance energy transfer to uncover the mechanisms leading to the abnormal cAMP compartmentation in heart failure. These findings are of great importance for the development of new strategies for heart failure treatment. The work was featured in Editor’s choice in Science Signaling 3(115), 2010, p93 and Perspective in Science 327(5973), 2010, p1586. The work originated from a project funded by Wellcome Trust (090594/Z/09/Z) and lead to Imperial College Research Excellence Award. The study also helped secure follow-up BHF New Horizons grant (NH/10/3/28574).
