Impact Factor: 4.2. This work was conducted in collaboration with materials design group in Rolls-Royce (david.rugg@rolls-royce.com) and Timet UK, funded by EPSRC and Rolls Royce plc. The work provided critical parameters with regards to the safely and environmental concerns in aerospace structures and involved using state-of-the-art techniques such as synchrotron X ray microtomography and 3D EBSD. This work led to further consultancy work for Rolls Royce, VSMPO Tirus and Wyman Gordon European Operation. The presentation of this work awarded the best speaker prize at Titanium Research Conference/UK/July 2008, and invited by the US Air Force Research Laboratory to be presented at TMS 2012 conference in Orlando/USA.
