Additional information

This paper describes a computational fluid dynamics study of a jetpump within a formal optimization framework with validation through experiment (Yorkshire Forward funded £375k). This has provided optimised jetpump geometries. Parker Hannifin, a major supplier of filtration systems, has adopted the methodology and designs and as a result developed a highly efficient droplet separation filter that was awarded the British Engineering Excellence Award in 2012 and has allowed engine manufacturers to reduce emissions in line with EURO6 requirements. Parker Hannifin have won contracts totalling £3M between Jan 2012 and Dec 2013, and £1.5M per annum between 2014-2017. Corroboration: pcore@parker.com
