Additional information

The pupil in question is, of course, Machiavelli. This output casts new light on his educational background, and especially discusses the significance of his translation of Terence’s Andria. The essay as a whole stresses the significance of Machiavelli’s classical and Latinate education, a point that could not be developed in anything like equivalent detail in the author's monograph (also submitted) on Nicolo Machiavelli.
