Double-weighted statement

Expelling the Germans is a substantial monograph based on several years’ research in over thirty archives using a wide range of sources including almost fifty sets of private papers, numerous institutional archives, government records and oral testimony. The book offers both a detailed empirical history of the topic and a re-examination of the conceptual framework around the expulsion of ethnic Germans from east-central Europe after the end of the Second World War. None of the research for the book has been published elsewhere in article form or as chapters in edited volumes.
