Additional information

This paper describes aspects of collaborative work between process integration and cereal process engineering, drawing on the unique combination of these two activities within SCEAS to make a unique research contribution to the emerging area of biorefineries. This work addressed the key question of whether arabinoxylans could be extracted sufficiently economically to be commercially viable, and therefore whether further research in this area could be justified. The conclusion was Yes, such that further work has been funded, including a 2.6 million LINK-funded project that encompasses this aspect.
