Additional information
It had been thought for many years that impurities and additives caused crystallisation rates to be reduced. This work provides the first direct evidence that in some cases, enhancement of crystal growth can be bought about. This has caused us and others to rethink many accepted ideas about the crystal/solution interface. We were able to turn two separate and independent discoveries of this effect into a single joint collaborative publication.
