Adsorption of CO2, CH4, and N-2 on Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks: Experiments and Simulations
Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks are stable Metal Organic Frameworks that have attracted much scientific interest. This work represents one of the first attempts to show why some ZIFs are expected to be suitable for CO2 capture. We proposed a method to identify adsorption sites on ZIFs and assessed the potential of these materials for CO2 capture, the most expensive step in the reduction of carbon emissions from fossil fuels. This work has been used as a benchmark for assessing the potential of other materials (Huang, et al. Chem Eng Science 2011, DOI: 10.1016/j.ces.2011.09.009 ; Zhang et al. JACS 2013, DOI: 10.1021/ja401129h).
