English abstract

This output was invited by the editor of a special issue on immigration and Hispanic cinema and arose from discussions as part of the Research Unit of Intercultural and Transcultural Studies at Anglia Ruskin University. The special issue provides a critical analysis of late twentieth century Hispanic fiction films that highlight the difficulties and dangers of exile and explore issues of diversity in terms of the ways migration is typically experienced, as questions of economic, sociological, psychological and physical survival. My article analyses a Cuban/Spanish co-production which offers a complex portrait of life for Cuban migrant women in Spain.
