Additional information

The paper reported the first work on the micromechanics of bone-cement interface, utilising in situ mechanical testing, time-lapsed microcomputed tomography (CT) and finite element (FE) modelling. The FE model was built from CT images and was able to capture the subject-specific mechanical responses and the damage evolution in situ under compression.
