Additional information

This is one of two edited books originating from Hodkinson’s AHRC research project, Sparta in Comparative Perspective, Ancient to Modern. Hodkinson shared with his co-editor responsibility for design of the book’s concept, structure and contents, choice of contributors, and detailed critiques of each draft chapter. As senior co-editor, he took sole responsibility for approving final versions of each chapter. Hodkinson also made two personal contributions to the book: (i) a 9,500-word jointly-authored Introduction, pp. vii-xxvi; (ii) a sole-authored chapter, Chapter 9, "Sparta and the Soviet Union in U.S. Cold War foreign policy and intelligence analysis", pp.343-392.
