Additional information

This publication originated in a report written by Prof Jackson for the Sustainable Development Commission in his capacity as economics commissioner. The book had an enormous impact on debates about economic growth and sustainability in the UK and abroad. It was translated into 17 languages, was influential in establishing a government commission on growth in Germany and drew wide-scale support from establishment figures (including HRH the Prince of Wales, former French President Nicholas Sarkozy, the Archbishop of Canterbury). The Environmental Audit Committee recommended a formal government response to the report and key messages were presented to the UN General Assembly.
