Dr El-Bahrawy is a Consultant Histopathologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She contributes to 10 clinical trials at Imperial (between Trust and Imperial or exclusively within the Trust), led by Imperial College staff and is the nominated pathologist for 6 of these trials.
During the REF period, Dr El-Bahrawy has been lead Principal investigator on 4 Imperial research grants, supervised 24 Imperial students for BSc, MSc and MRes and co-supervised the work of 2 Imperial PhD students, and published 19 articles jointly with her Imperial colleagues. All of her research during the REF assessment period is affiliated to Imperial.
Dr El-Bahrawy leads on a number of projects and collaborates with several groups at Imperial College within the Department of Medicine (Dr Zhao, Professor Wilkins) and the Department of Surgery and Cancer (Dr Flanagan). She also provides support to the Ovarian Cancer Action (OCA) Centre. Within OCA there are many research groups led by Imperial College academics (Prof H Gabra, Prof R Brown, Dr S Ghaem-maghami, Dr E Stronach, Dr S Blagden). Dr El-Bahrawy collaborates with these groups on research projects and publications.

Professor Gatzoulis has been Professor of Cardiology, congenital heart disease at the College’s National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) since 2006, and is the academic head of the Adult Congenital Heart Centre and the Centre for Pulmonary Hypertension at Royal Brompton Hospital and NHLI, Imperial College London.
