Additional information

This paper reported the details of the design, implementation and testing of a novel advanced virtual coordinate measuring machine (AVCMM) system in which, for the

first time, the inspection planning and uncertainty evaluation of CMM measurements have been integrated. The pilot system developed at Brunel University has demonstrated the feasibility and great potential to improve the functionalities and overall performance of CMMs. The work was based on many years’ research in CMMs at Brunel and has led to further collaboration and joint research projects on virtual coordinate measuring machine with NPL (National Physical Laboratory).
