Additional information

The paper describes the mathematical development of a general, non-geometry-specific, model for bed-load sediment transport and the integration of morphological changes within a general-purpose 3-D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. The development was undertaken as part of an EPSRC-funded project on the movement of sandbanks. However, its potential applications to sediment erosion and deposition around hydraulic structures (off-shore wind and marine turbines, bridge piers, hydraulic structures) make it a powerful and timely capability which is not available in most commercial CFD codes.
