The volume represents the results of eight major seasons of excavation (1994-2003). Although excavation and some post-excavation was carried out by others (credited in the multi-authorship of the excavation chapters) much of the post-excavation was carried out by Bowden and all texts of the excavation chapters were written by Bowden together with a large part of the discursive text that comprises the second part of the volume. Bowden was also responsible for all editing of the excavation chapters as well as compiling and editing the illustrations. In total it represents at least two years of continuous work.
