On Appearance
This special issue of Performance Research investigates the conceptualisation of discourses and practices of appearance in contemporary performance, politics and philosophy. It examines the emergence of appearance as a critical concern in post-Althusserian and post-Arendtian thought (e.g. Rancière, Badiou; Agamben, Cavarero) and in contemporary post-dramatic theatre, performance, live and visual arts and social practices of magic. With international contributors from across the disciplinary spectrum, the issue evidences the co-editor’s role in stimulating, motivating and curating research into this emergent research topic.
Kear's individual contribution: research project design; sole-authored Editorial, pp. 1—3; sole-authored article, 'Intensities of Appearance', pp.16—24.
