Additional information

This collection was co-conceived as the first major critical historical contextualisation of the most important post-war report on broadcasting – the Peacock Report (1986). It is based on a special conference, where the themes of origins, nature and impact were debated by participants and academics. The book reflects this structure. O'Malley's contribution, in addition to co-conceiving the project, was to provide three contextualising chapters, which provide the first historical and critical account of the origins of the ideas that led to the Committee; introduction, co-edited articles and transcripts and the provision of supporting notes to transcripts.
