Red Sun and Merlin Unchained

This critical edition brings together the two most recent original stage works by an internationally renowned, but recently neglected, dramatist whose work is consistently rooted in mythical and archetypal themes. Rabey designed the volume’s overarching conceptual structure and contributed an essay from his unique perspective as director of the first stage production of the second play. Rabey commissioned and edited two further essays within the collection, which serve to contextualize the plays within the themes and styles of Rudkin's lifetime's work, in the media of theatre, film, television and radio drama.
