Significance of output:

This invited special issue paper describes the development of novel control algorithms that enable high performance vibration isolation with the BAE Systems patented “Smart Spring” mounting concept. The paper includes a unique proof of the accuracy of a compensator equivalent to the original frequency domain implementation. The “Smart Spring” mounting system is being developed commercially by BAE Systems using this research undertaken within the ISVR’s Centre for Research in Active Control. The algorithms described have also recently been successfully demonstrated at sea with MOD support on an active service UK Naval vessel.
