Significance of output:

This report describes research on pure copper and two copper-zinc alloys and it demonstrates the influence of stacking-fault energy on microstructural development. It shows that there is negligible twinning in these materials but the densities of dislocations and twins increase with increasing zinc content and thus with decreasing stacking-fault energy. The report provides fundamental information on the importance of the stacking-fault energy in face-centered cubic metals.
