Significance of output:

The recent growth of supercomputing capabilities allows for high-order accurate numerical simulations in many areas of CFD. High-order CFD usually incorporates numerical filters for stability as well as modelling purposes. The level of numerical resolution in CFD is often dictated by the cut-off wavenumber of filters used. The proposed compact filters are developed to fit any high-order CFD with numerical stability by conveniently choosing a desirable cut-off wavenumber for best results.
