Additional information

This Chapter explores the role of creative thinking within design and its place within the design process. It tackles some of the factors that can inhibit our creative thinking and through a number of examples and case studies shows how we can enhance our creative thinking capabilities. This chapter also looks at the steps from creative thinking to innovation and how this can best be managed. This chapter challenges students to be experimental in their approach to design and the methodology they adopt, with creativity being key within the design process, and how it relates to all design disciplines within the creative industries.

Impact: Since the book was first published in July 2013 it has established itself as a key text for both students looking to study at university and those already studying design at university. Universities and school career services are purchasing this book as a reference guide for students, plus parents of students/ and students looking to take their studies further into Higher Education.
