Additional information

Supernatural is a traditional road tale, relying on geographic movement to reacquaint viewers with familiar and 'good‘ American values (family, friends, music and culture). However, its dark gothic style simultaneously allows a critique of the country‘s seedier side with plots featuring evils such as racism, child abuse and domestic violence, as well as more fantastic plot elements. Supernatural‘s overarching theme is entropy - holding the line against forces

of chaos and disorder to protecting the 'American way‘ against those who seek to disrupt or subvert it thus offering a window into the post-9/11 American psyche.
