Dr Gray was invited to contribute to a special issue of ERH on holy wells and the natural environment in the medieval world. This study contributes to the debate over perceptions of the natural world in medieval pilgrimage literature with a particular focus on Welsh poetry to shrines of the Virgin Mary at Penrhys and elsewhere.
