Additional information

This is a significant investigation into early modern Welsh emigration to America, particularly Pennsylvania. It draws upon primary evidence and the historiography of the colony, and offers new interpretations for the settlement of these emigrants. It also questions the right of self-determination and linguistic difference in Pennsylvania. It was originally delivered as a conference paper at the Urban Cultures conference in Prague, but substantially developed thereafter.
