Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, phthalates and organotins in northern Atlantic Spain's coastal marine sediments
This work on the origins, transport and fate of persistent organic contaminants has wide-ranging implications for the bioremediation of marine sediments. This paper was a major outcome of a Ramon y Cajal Fellowship (Spanish Government; http://www.boe.es/boe/dias/2007/01/26/pdfs/A03818-03830.pdf) 185k€; featured on the cover of the journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry (DoI:10.1039/B822722P). It resulted in a new academic collaboration with Calcutta University (sarkar.santosh@gmail.com) leading to a joint publication (DoI:10.1007/s10646-011-0739-5) and a joint research grant (http://www.ukieri.org/) £63k. A companion paper (DoI:10.1016/j.envint.2007.09.005) has been highly influential and resulted in an invitation to the author to join the Editorial Board of Environment International (http://www.elsevier.com/journals/environment-international/0160-4120/editorial-board).
