Additional information

This detailed theoretical study of the quality factors and power stored in frequency selective surfaces was the first to predict large near-field currents in periodic metallic strips. Devices exploiting such currents can be employed to improve the sensitivity of infra-red sensors and this finding resulted in an invited paper (DoI:10.1117/1.3604785). Multi-band filters were experimentally demonstrated as a follow-on (DoI:10.1116/1.3250193), opening up new possibilities for THz optics.
