Additional information

A significant longitudinal analysis of an experimental digital signage system, covering a 3-year long deployment of 30 networked public display installations. The paper presents a novel design for a distributed signage control system based on shared ‘content channels’, a departure from existing approaches featuring a single point of control. An extended version of this work, entitled “Reflections on Long-Term Experiments with Public Displays” was published in IEEE Computer, vol 45, no 5. May, 2012. The work covered in this paper led to a Google Focused Research Award on Digital Sign Analytics.
