Additional information

A major output from an EPSRC funded project (EP/E021301/1), this paper presents a novel method for switching frequency selective slots. This new technology is simple to produce, low cost, and has a wide range of applications, including controlling electromagnetic propagation in buildings, controlling reading of RFID tags in metallic enclosures and antenna beam steering. It led to invited presentations at the IET seminars on Wireless Communications in Buildings in London in 2011 and 2013. The technology has been patented (GB0902380.6) and has attracted enterprise funding from Kent Innovation and Enterprise to develop commercial prototypes.
