Additional information

This paper explains the underlying principles of deriving encryption keys from the properties of electronic circuits and the software executing on such circuits, a technology which has been jointly developed by the University of Kent and Prof Klaus McDonald-Maier at the University of Essex. The novelty lies in the mechanism for mapping variations in the measured values into a stable key. This technology is of high commercial potential and is currently in the process of being commercialised jointly by the Universities of Kent and Essex via spin out company, Metrarc Ltd.
