Additional information

Gomes’s leadership of the main (largest) systems work package of the ISIS Network of Excellence (FP6-IST-026592) resulted in an invitation to lead this peer-reviewed paper which integrated research undertaken by 8 EU and one Singapore partners. The paper presented a wide scope of different, novel results in radio over fibre research, including physical layer experiments for simultaneous transport of multiple wireless/mobile signals, ultra-wideband signal transport, and ultra-high-bit-rate millimetre-wave over fibre system operation. Performance was validated against criteria specified in system standards. Radio over fibre delay effects on wireless personal, local and metropolitan area network protocols were analysed.
