Additional information

This output, resulting from two EPSRC funded projects (EP/F061307/1, EP/G062153/1), presents the design and implementation of piezoelectric sensors for the on-line particle sizing of pneumatically conveyed biomass particles. Such a non-optical approach to on-line particle sizing in a hostile environment is proposed and reported for the first time by the Kent team. Particle sizing information is derived from minute impact events between the sensing probe and the particles in the presence of strong background noise. The technique is low in cost and easy to install and has the potential to be deployed on full-scale biomass fired power stations.
