Generalised synthesis of space-time variability in flood response An analytical framework
Paper proposes new theoretical framework to interpret and summarise flood response of catchments, across huge variety of time-scales, space-scales and hydrological environments. Novelty is mathematical formalism that relates mean and variance of response time to spatial and temporal means, variances and covariances of rainfall and various catchment attributes. Paper led to guidance for New Zealand Ministry of Environment [contact: Senior Analyst] to inform regional governments on assessing impacts of climate change on river flood risk. Paper is identified as research group highlight in REF5 and is in top 5% of most-cited in journal since publication (Web of Science, 16/7/2013).
