Additional information

The paper presents the development of a sophisticated open source musculoskeletal model of the human lower limb based on a comprehensive cadaveric dataset, implemented in the Stanford developed OpenSim software. The model can be used with a unique plugin also developed by the research group to provide physiologically relevant loading for finite element simulations of the human body. Since paper publication and release of the model it has been downloaded by over 300 international researchers through the SimTK website. Two members of the Structural Biomechanics research group have been awarded Stanford NCSRR Visiting Scholarships (http://opensim.stanford.edu/support/scholars.html#2013Scholars) to conduct follow up studies.
