Double-weighted statement

This volume offers the first sustained historical account of the last year of the Callaghan government. It utilses a wide range of source material drawn from repositories in the UK and Australia, and is underpinned by over forty original interviews, including some Australian Labour party politicians. It deploys a high politics methodology finessed by evidence from unions, civil servants and the media and draws heavily on recently-released Cabinet/Government papers at The National Archives, as well as a broad range of historical material and political science literature to provide a wide ranging and sustained study of the topic.
