Double-weighted statement

Ireland and the war at sea, 1641-1653 is the first comprehensive study of naval warfare on the Irish coast during the War of the Three Kingdoms. It shows naval affairs at the epicentre of conflict with important consequences for the nature and outcome of the land conflicts in Ireland and elsewhere. The book is the result of eight years of research; it utilises archival collections from Ireland and the UK. The extensive primary source base for the monograph is reflected in the 1300 cases in fifty high court of admiralty files analysed and presented in seventy pages of detailed appendices.
