iRaster: a novel information visualization tool to explore spatiotemporal patterns in multiple spike trains.
<24> A new selection of statistical procedures for visualization and flexible manipulations with simultaneously recorded spike-trains is developed. Ideas from the field of visual analytics have been applied to reveal patterns of neural activity. A key facet of this paper is that it reports new findings from the visualization of two large in-vitro experimental datasets. The visualisation method and iRaster software have been adopted as one of the open source software tools and services for the EPSRC funded CARMEN project on grid computing (eNeuroscience), which includes over 20 research labs.
