Additional information

This paper is the first academic publication reporting research undertaken with Directors of travelling circuses; a rare example of a living and working community.  It bring into dialogue the model of 'goods, virtues, practices and institutions' derived from MacIntyre with the approach to work orientation derived from Bellah in presenting evidence to demonstrate a 'calling' orientation amongst the directors which manifests as the virtue of constancy.
