Regionalizing Science: Placing Knowledges in Victorian England
Material from 5 outputs published before 2008 is drawn upon in this book-length output, but all of this material has been reworked and presented together with substantial new research material. No chapters are reproductions of papers in direct form, although links to previous papers are explicitly acknowledged. The Introduction and Chapters 1, 3 and the Conclusion are entirely new. The other chapters draw upon some empirical examples and conceptual arguments deployed previously, but in all cases incorporate new empirical material and are considerably re-assembled, re-written and re-theorised to advance understanding of regional scientific cultures in nineteenth-century Britain.
