Additional information

The research allows accurate prediction and modelling of complex turbulent air flows and pollutant concentrations within the urban environment. The methodology developed is new and important to planners, architects, and policy makers in investigating the pedestrian exposure to harmful pollutants and its health implications. It can also be used during emergency response operations due to accidental (or otherwise) releases of harmful pollutants in the atmosphere. It will enable response workers to mobilise relief resources and advise on optimal, safe pathways for both pedestrians and traffic.
