Hommage à Chopin

This digital release is curated and performed by the researcher, offering new insights into how an array of diverse composers have responded to the compositional and pianistic legacy of Frederic Chopin. It includes music by familiar composers alongside little-known figures and incorporates both lighter music (such as that by Bendel and Godard ) alongside more serious and significant compositions, such as the Busoni Variations and Federico Mompou’s Variations sur un theme de Chopin, which is the centrepiece of the disc.

By identifying, selecting and presenting these works in the form of a recorded recital, the researcher offers an original contribution, in and through performance, to our understanding of Chopin’s legacy.
