This paper reports findings of the ACTIVE project, an international academia-industry collaboration between Newcastle University and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (contact: Gerard Cornelissen; gerard.cornelissen@ngi.no, +4797724503) with financial support from EPSRC (EP/F008473/1), the Norwegian Research Council (KMB program project number 192936) and the Norwegian recycling company Lindum Ressurs and Gjenvinning A/S.
