Closed Quotient and Spectral Measures of Female Adolescent Singers in Different Singing Styles
This paper follows on from earlier work in the field of voice analysis, in a largely unresearched area, dealing with young singers in musical theatre. The results are important in that they indicate that contrary to popular perception, appropriately trained musical theatre singing does not put any higher strain on the voice than ‘classical’ voice training. The paper has attracted attention from practitioners and researchers, though few researchers are still looking into the field. The paper has been cited in a number of practitioner based conferences and some follow up papers by other researchers.
