Additional information

This work, funded by EPSRC (REMEDI, EP/C534247/1), presents the first use of macro-Raman techniques for the study of live cells. It demonstrates rapid, non-invasive and non-destructive analysis of cell types and viability and represents a significant advance over standard confocal or micro-Raman techniques. This seminal paper has led to 3 subsequent papers, additional funding (National Access Programme, Science Foundation Ireland, NAP-149), invited talks (ESB 2011, UKSAF 2012) and international collaboration with UMASS Dartmouth, USA and Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland).
