Additional information

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a new area of research, which is mostly dealing with detailed and construction stages of the design process. This paper is a first attempt in using BIM at the conceptual stage of the design in a novel way. The research is a continuation of the author’s researcher in Plymouth since 2003 which has led to an Interactive Visualisation Clustering Genetic Algorithm (IVCGA) tool, (currently implemented in EP/K002465/1). IVCGA enables generation of several concepts that is then linked with the BIM for an interactive exploration of the conceptual alternative solutions early on in the design process.
