Additional information

Ground-shaking aspects of the 2011 Mw9.0 Great East Japan earthquake are presented here. The paper forms part of EEFIT’s report (http://www.istructe.org/news-articles/2011/industry-news/eefit-japan-earthquake-report-published) and the basis for an Institution of Structural Engineers Technical Meeting (http://www.istructe.org/resources-centre/webinars) and further invited lectures at Cambridge and Newcastle universities to structural engineering academics. The work has been heavily cited by the UK Cabinet Office in their briefing document to ministers “The Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami ……Implications for the Civil Contingency Planning and Preparation in the UK presented to the UK cabinet office” (Rebecca.bowers@cabinet-office.x.gsi.gov.uk/Chris Felton/Philippa Makepeace).
