Non-Newtonian multi-phase flows: On drag reduction, pressure drop and liquid wall friction factor
This publication presents numerical results on gas/shear-thinning fluid, for different flow regimes. It has led to invitations to act as expert reviewer for the PETROMAKS2 project (Norwegian Research Council); a nomination to the Society of Petroleum Engineers Distinguished Lecturer programme (30 experts appointed annually, worldwide), and industrial grant income of over £1M in 2012/13. (LBrown@scideep.com, recently of ConocoPhillips). Further research is looking at turbulence modelling, droplet break-up and coalescence in liquid-liquid dispersions. This is critical to the petro-chemical industry (and others) to support the design of processes and equipment (e.g. separators, mixers, reactors). (Contact: lee.rhyne@chevron.com)
