Initial research results from an EC 6th FP, Integrated Project, enabling robust design, were carried forward into the €50M CRESCENDO Integrated Project, under EC FP7, grant agreement number 234344 (www.crescendo-fp7.eu, Philippe.Homsi@airbus.com). The method, which allows a more efficient computation of uncertainty, also led to a NASA-funded research project (http://nasa.orau.org/postdoc/about-fellows/fellows-2011.htm) on a probabilistic approach to the design and optimisation of Boundary Layer Ingesting Inlets for novel aircraft configurations.
